Dr. Bulbul Ahmed is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), with 14 years of experience in research on composite structures. He has been serving as an Associate Professor since January 17, 2024. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor from June 30, 2015 to January 17, 2024, and a Lecturer from May 20, 2012 to June 29, 2015. His academic journey reflects a strong commitment to teaching and research excellence.

Prof. Ahmed holds a PhD from Western Sydney University, Australia, completed in 2023 under the prestigious Postgraduate Research Award. His doctoral research focused on developing design guidelines for concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) members. He was honored with the “Excellence in HDR Thesis Award” for his outstanding PhD thesis. His primary research areas include the analysis and design of CFST members, steel structures, composite structures, and structures subjected to blast actions. His academic accomplishments reflect a strong commitment to advanced structural engineering research.  Prof. Ahmed also received his Master’s degree in 2018 from Czech Technical University in Prague, supported by the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship from the European Commission. He is a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), and actively engages with various international professional engineering organizations.

A prolific researcher, Prof. Ahmed has authored 60 technical publications, including journal articles, book chapters, research reports, and conference proceedings. He received the Best Paper Award at IICASD 2024 and serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several esteemed international journals. His active conference participation includes roles as Joint Secretary for ICCEI 2025 and Organizing Committee member at iCSER-2025, Australia and member of ICPACE-2023 & ICPACE-2017. He has also served as a session chair at several international conferences and events. Prof. Ahmed is currently supervising PhD and Master’s students and has guided 29 undergraduate research projects. His academic and professional journey reflects a strong commitment to advancing Civil Engineering through research, teaching, and leadership. With notable national and international contributions, Prof. Ahmed continues to impact the field through innovation, collaboration, and a passion for structural engineering excellence.
