Sports sciences and engineering honed an interest in the interface between technologies with people:

Developing inertial sensors based protocol for bat swing analysis in cricket, that includes extraction of the key performance attributes (for instance, spatiotemporal parameters, kinetics and kinematics of bat and batter’s limbs, motor control and coordination in a drive, competency and consistency of batting etc.) of a batting drive by the measurement and interpretation of sensors recorded signals for assessing the drive and providing real-time feedback to the batter; Validation of sensors’ data revealed cricket drive parameters by the existing bulk technological methods (like video-graphy, opto-reflective methods etc.) by image processing and imposing mathematics;

Development of sensor recorded data/signal processing facilities (mathematical and statistical toolbox) in Matlab platform to link the inherent physics and biomechanics with a successful batting drive and develop methods to blend data from multiple sensors to infer relationships between kinetics and kinematic parameters among limbs and bat during a cricket batting drive for off-line demonstrations of technique viability, skill level assessment and quantification, aiding corrections in training and real field-based batting skill enhancement.

Exercise Science and Health Monitoring; Use of technology for conversion of selected techniques into forms suitable for implementation on hardwires; Testing prototypes to assess changes in behavior or performance; Providing general design recommendations based on results of exploratory research, development, and prototype testing to improve exercise execution and physical fitness outcomes.
